Traditional Pie with Kasseri PDO

Ingredients for 4-6 servings

  • 500 g phyllo dough
  • 400 g Kasseri PDO DOIRANI, cut into small cubes
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 ml milk
  • 2-3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • Grated nutmeg
  • Salt & pepper

Procedure

In a bowl, beat the eggs well with the milk, along with a little salt, nutmeg and plenty of pepper.
Add the Kasseri PDO DOIRANI in cubes and mix gently.
Cover with plastic wrap and set aside.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking tray measuring approximately 30×40 cm.
Lay 5 sheets on the baking tray, letting the edges hang over the sides, and grease.
Spread the filling over the base sheets, making sure to cover the entire surface evenly.
Fold the edges of the sheets inwards, over the filling.
Add another 4 sheets over the filling, sprinkling them with olive oil one by one.
Score the pie into portions and bake for 1 hour, or until golden brown on top.
Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
